> European Commission To Confirm Croatia EU Entry

In the closing stages of Croatia EU accession, Jose Mauel Barroso and the the European Commission will this week confirm a target date of July 2013 for Croatia's EU accession.

The decision comes after 6 years of negotiation between Zagred and Brussels during which time ongoing concerns regarding reforms to Croatia's judiciary and fundamental rights have been an issue, as well the border dispute between Croatia and Slovenia.

However, whilst some critics continue to accuse Zagreb of not fully reforming its judiciary and failing to crack down on organised crime, the consens within the EU's 27 governments is that Zagreb has done enough.

Croatia joining of the EU is unlikely to bring the kind of upswing in property prices that was seen in the European 8 that joined in 2004. Having said that the Croatia property market will recieve a boost from institutional investors notably from Western Europe who will feel more secure regarding placing investments in the country.

Different property types are likely to receive greater interest, notably properties next to the sea or in prime locations and Croatia apartment buildings, new build, well located and sensibly priced.
