As Croatia moves closer to joining the EU, the anticipation of change and increasing inward investment is building. There is definitely some movement with some of the bigger projects planned for the coast as investors begin to gear up for post EU entry but the market is still slow. There is activity but largely from small private investors, many of who are buying land and building due to a lack of decent finished product. This has been felt in the local construction industry as building contractors & sub contractors alike are seeing an increase in demand for their services and prices are stabilizing. As ever you pay for what you get, so if you are considering building, don't expect miracles on a tight budget. Quality costs, both in terms of materials and workmanship. So if you are going for the lowest price offer make sure you have seen the work the builder is claiming he can do and moreover double check his references.
